3CE multipot vs Sunnies face Airblush

I have been MIA for quite some time. Nothing sparked interest until I met these puppies.

Im that I want makeup but I also like to be chill kind of girl which is why these multi-use pots caught my attention and we’re here today to compare the two.

3CE Multi-way pot

I was first introduced to this multi-use pots with 3CE. Anna Cay, a filipino vlogger is raving about it but it was a bit pricey and hard to find so I did not get it immediately.

However, just recently I was able to get mine in an online shop. I finally have in the temptation and got myself one..

I got mine in the shade cabbage rose.

It was love at first swipe and I fell head over heels when I blended it. There’s a reason why people are raving this product.

It’s packed in a compact with a korean girl in front and when you open it you immediately see the product and it also has a good sized mirror. Enough for you to see your face especially on touch ups.

(photo above: left- swatch, right- when blended)

It feels like a smooth, firm clay for me if that makes sense and immediately you get the product. Just be careful with this because it’s REALLY pigmented. I love blush and I usually go ham and have putok na putok blush and I had to learn that the hard way. Haha. I usually apply this with a sponge just to absorb some of the product but even then, it’s still pigmented. It lasts for about 6-8 hours, even in Philippine summer. It lives up to its price. This is usually sold for about 850-1200 in the Philippines but a little goes a long long long loooooong way.

Sunnies face Airblush

Then just recently sunnies face, a local brand released their own line of cream blushes which very much works like 3CE. This caught my attention and I just had to get one myself. I just feel that at first glance, it’s way too much of a copy cat as it looks like tarte’s blushes and works like 3CE multipot.

I have to be honest, I’ve watched reviews about this before I used it but I still have my own opinion.

(excuse the used product in the photo haha)

Sunnies Airblush is packaged in a monochrome unit, it usually matches the shade that you bought. It also has a mirror enough for touchups which is a plus. The product feels silicon-ey and at first I was scared that it would slip and slide on my skin.

(photo above: left- blended, right- swatch)

I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t. It’s not as pigmented as the 3CE but that’s a plus for me since I usually go overboard with my blush. It took about 3-4 layers before the pigment showed up on my skin. This one usually lasts up to about 4-6 hours on me, on a work day which means I commuted and moved about. For its price of 445 pesos, I guess it’s an okay product but that shade selection, great job sunnies.

Here’s a table of comparison

Would I recommend it? I’ll recommend the 3CE more than I would the sunnies but they are both good products. 3CE has more value for money with pigment and longevity while sunnies would be good for those with darker skin as they have a varied shade range that can suit any skin type.

Lab’i experience

The ultimate experience for the lipstick junkie is now here in the Philippines. I’ve been wanting to do this since I heard that bite beauty in New York offers it but of course, it’s not that feasible at the moment. HOWEVER! Recently, it became available in the Philippines through Lab’i.

Situated in eastwood citywalk 2, Lab’i offers the experience and also using natural ingredients.

Getting there

Since I’m from the south, I really needed to set time to go there. I wasn’t really familiar with the area so I kind of had a hard time locating eastwood city walk 2. However, once you located eastwood citywalk 2 it’s pretty close to the entrance and easy to spot. Just look for chatime and it’s just a few stores away.

The store

Prices

They offer different versions of the make your own lipstick, they have one where you would pick from the variety of colors that they have and the staff would mix and make the lipstick for you which costs 780 pesos. The experience where you would pick from their shade range (and/or mix some shades) and you will be the one to make the lipstick costs 1500 pesos while the full experience, making your own shade and making your own lipstick is 3300 pesos.

Additional prices for matte or semi matte finish as well as specialty cases depending on your package is .

The experience

For me, I picked out the second package where I’d mix colors from their shade range and do the lipstick myself. I personally cannot stand glossy lipsticks which is the default so I opted to have it semi-matte (additional 60 pesos).

First, I was asked to pick from the shades that they have. It was organized and the staff were knowledgeable about which shades would match you depending on your skin tone.

I wasn’t able to ask what are the names of the shades that I picked but it was both from the wine-colored shades.

The staff then scraped off from the tester and mixed it for me to try it and see it together. They had disposable doe foot applicators so you can apply it on your lips while being hygienic. Once I was happy with the color, the staff then prepared the pigments and the materials to be used.

My boyfriend got my phone so I’m missing some photos and most of my photos have texts on them. I’m sorry but this will have to do.

They provided me with a small beaker where the pigments are, a scraper, the mold, a (fancy) stirrer, a brush and a small metal spatula. Gloves were provided as well and a small stove was already on the table.

First I was asked to mix in the pigments, vitamin E and the powder for the semi matte finish very well using the brush. This seemed easy until when it’s almost smooth as you have to keep stirring until it’s almost like melted chocolate texture. The staff was reminding me to scrape off excess pigment that gets stuck on the beaker so we can maixmize the materials.

Afterwards, we already put in the wax beads and then placed it on the stove. While it’s there, I still had to keep on mixing using the stirrer so that the wax will be fully incorporated to the mixture. I think this was also the part where we put the essential oils. I picked lavender of course!

Afterwards we quickly poured it into the mold. The staff said it should be quick since the wax sets fast. It also should be done in one pour so that the lipstick wont be broken.

2 pours were needed since the initial pour made the lipstick hollow in the middle. This was actually quicker than I expected. We waited around 5 minutes before starting to put it in its case.

Now the fun part, putting it in the case that I picked and finally seeing the lipstick that I made.

The hard part was making sure that it’s centered so that the lipstick will not touch the sides of the case.

And finally with one quick go, I was able to see my lipstick.

The formula

Here is the shade on my lips

It isn’t the most opaque. It’s not the one swipe goodness that other lipsticks are offering. It’s definitely not transfer proof. However, it promises that lips will feel more moisturised and healthy with consistent use. It’s definitely light weight and great for daily use.

However, the scent from the essential oil can be bothering and it can sometimes be tasted when the lipstick is newly applied and you drink or eat. Otherwise, it’s a good lipstick.

Would I do it again? Yes. Definitely.

Is it worth it. YES!

Pat McGrath MatteTrance mini trio

It’s been a while since my last review, especially about makeup. Makeup was becoming stagnant for me and nothing catches my attention.

This lipstick was launched way back and I got my eyes on it since then. However, when they released the mini version, I know I had to get it. It made me excited again (though it still took me a while to make the review).

Lo and behold, Pat McGrath MatteTrance lipsticks mini.

What it is

A revolutionary lipstick so luxurious and richly pigmented, it drenches lips in a lightweight veil of opaque colour while delivering a mesmerizingly modern matte finish. Sensually creamy and brilliant in texture, this collection evokes the femme fatale siren with every application. Colour and finish so sinful, your pout will speak volumes without ever whispering a word.

(from Pat Mcgrath website)

Price

At almost 5500 Php per full size bullet, getting the mini trio at less than 2000 Php was a steal. However, I still think it’s way too pricey for a lipstick (or any cosmetics for that matter).

Application

It applies smoothly although the darkest shade feels a bit sandy upon re-application. I did not have that feeling on the lighter shades. No tugging noted upon first swipe.

Color payoff

Very opaque! With one swipe, you can see the color very vividly. I have colored lips and it was able to cover that with one swipe.

Here are the swatches

Shade: flesh 3

Shade: omi

Shade: 1995

Surprisingly, my favorite shade is flesh 3. It is unique compared to the nude shades.

Feel

Applies smoothly and light on the lips. However, as mentioned, there was a sandy feel with flesh 3 after I reapplied after eating. The sandy feeling was notable when you purse your lips.

Longevity

For a bullet lipstick, this is long lasting. When I ate something oily for lunch, only the inside was removed.

However as seen on the photo, the pigment faded hence my colored lips is now visible.

Overall thoughts

Would I recommend it? If you’re a lipstick lover/collector and/or you have a budget, go ahead. However this isn’t something I’ll rave about. Despite having a good formula, I think there are more affordable alternatives to this one.

Above is swatches of dupes that I have in my collection.

Happyskin x lovemarie mini trio could pass as a dupe. However, I’m not sure if that whole collection is still available.

More posts soon, I promise.

Nyx Powder Puff Lippie

Here we are again with another lipstick. However, this one is intriguing because of it’s unique applicator and claims.

Product description

Screenshot from nyx cosmetics website

Price

$8.50

Packaging

It comes in a unicarton. The lipstick itself is in a squeezy tube with the color matching the shade and a black plastic cap. The packaging also feels velvety

Application

It comes with a round cushiony applicator which can be difficult to work with when lining the edges of your lips. Aside from that, it applies smoothly.

Feel/Scent

True to its claims, it feels lightweight and sort of powdery. It’s very comfortable on the lips. It has a subtle sweet custardy smell to it. Or vanilla. I can’t differentiate it.

Color payoff

Medium to full coverage. You can easily see the color with just one layer. The dark edges of my lips are still visible but it’s not that obvious. I’m pretty pleased with this one.

Longevity

It barely transfers. I drink a lot throughout the day and observed that there was minimal to no transfer. I almost forgot that I was wearing lipstick.

However, as any lipstick would, it would easily come off when you eat.

Overall thoughts

I love the feel and the color payoff of this product. They also have other great color selections. It is affordable and can be used everday. I just wish the applicator was a little bit more pointed rather than being too rounded for easier application.

Make up

Colourpop lux lipsticks

Another lipstick to feed my obsession. Haha. These were intriguing since the packaging is somewhat similar to Charlotte Tilburry but with a very low price point. However, these weren’t as hyped as other releases which is quite interesting. I already got mine in 3 shades and tried them all before writing this review.

Product description

LUX LIPSTICK

This full coverage lipstick is packed full of the finest pigments to give you long wearing, true color in shades made for every skin tone. This formula glides on like butter and has a creamy matte finish. Our exclusive LUX blend of Acai, Jojoba and Pomegranate Seed butters hydrate and keep your lips looking fresh AF. Natural antioxidants protect your lips from environmental stressors and premature aging.

Finish Satin

INGREDIENTS

Octyldodecanol, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Polyethylene, Hydrated Silica, Flavor, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Tocopherol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Butter, Euterpe Olerecea Pulp Powder, Punica Granatum Seed Oil, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, 77492, 77499), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891).

Feel and scent

Surprisingly, this feels comfortable on the lips. I can’t say that this is the lightest formula ever but it’s comfortable. It also feels a bit moisturizing.

It smells lightly of playdoh but only if you smell it up close. Otherwise, it won’t bother anyone.

Price

This costs $7.00 which is already reasonable. Not bad for the price.

Application

It’s actually moisturizing and is one swipe goodness. I didn’t feel any tugging on my lips and it wasn’t too soft that it would break while you’re applying it.

Color payoff

I got mine in 3 shades: lay over, 27 and gallop.

I have to say that it is pigmented. With one swipe, I was already able to achieve the opacity that I like. It also didn’t emphasize dryness or lines on my lips. Two thumbs up for that.

Photo above: colourpop lux in lay over

Photo above: colourpop lux in 27

Photo above: colourpop lux in gallop

Longevity

When I first wore this, I was surprised there was minimal to no transfer. However, I think the way I drank had an effect to it. I tried it several times and saw that yes it will transfer, but not enough that it would affect the color on your lips.

I drink a lot throughout the day and I’m happy that despite it transferring, I don’t have to worry that I’ll have a smudged lip or no lipstick at all.

It was only when I ate a full meal (lunch) that it came off. It did, however, leave some product on the outer edges of the lips as seen on the photo below.

There was minimal feathering as well but only when you look at it up close. Nothing a nice lip liner wouldn’t fix.

I had to use makeup remover to remove the stain that it leaves. I don’t mind that since it means that it is, indeed, long lasting.

Overall thoughts

The formula reminds me of BLK cosmetics, especially regarding longevity. It depends on what you like if you’d ask me what’s better. Colourpop lux feels more hydrating than BLK but BLK is more matte. They’re both affordable but BLK is readily available in the Philippines. It’s a good formula. The shades are wearable and could be used everyday.

Maybelline Superstay matte ink

I have been hearing good reviews about this lipstick so I decided, why not go back to my first love: reviewing lipsticks.

About the product

WHAT IT IS

SuperStay Matte Inkâ„¢ Liquid Lipstick gives you a flawless matte finish in a range of super saturated shades.

BENEFITS

Ink your lips in up to 16 HR saturated liquid matte. SuperStay Matte Inkâ„¢ features a unique arrow applicator for precise application and is available in a range of super saturated shades.

(From the maybelline website)

Price

I bought mine in Watsons mall of asia for 299 pesos which is not bad for a drugstore liquid lipstick.

Application

It is easy to apply and the pointed tip of the applicator helped. However, it took forever to dry (Roughly 5-8 minutes but it’s still sticky).

Scent and feel

It smells strongly like vanilla cupcakes and it feels tacky unless it fully dries, which takes time.

Color payoff

Shade: loyalist

It took me two layers for me to achieve the color that I wanted, although I picked a very light color it wasn’t very streaky but I just wanted the perfect application.

Longevity

I must say, it did stay for a long time. Photo below is when I first applied it.

The photo below is after I ate lunch. I had bacon and eggs that day.

It only removed the inside part of the lip but was still visible on the outer edge. I reapplied only on the center.

I had tempura and california maki for dinner and it looked like this:

Overall, it did last the whole day. This is probably the first lipstick to last me literally the whole day.

Overall thoughts

I would repurchase but probably a different color since this one was too pale for me. It is true to its claims and is very affordable. Two thumbs up.

15 days of lipstick: Touch in Sol Metallist liquid foil Lipstick Duo

Metallic lipsticks fascinate me and I have always wanted to try one but can’t seem to have the courage to. However, this one came in with the set and I think it’s the perfect opportunity to try it out.

Product Information

What it is:
An innovative, dual-ended lipstick, featuring a rich metallic matte shade and matching glitter gloss for a buildable, bold lip look.

What it does:

Go with sassy shimmer in a single coat of glittering gloss, or go for the bold with a single swipe of the velvety, metallic liquid color. Amp up your look when you layer the complementary glitter on top of the matte metallic gloss for the ultimate, liquid foil lip look.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates

Price

This retails for $25.00 base on the sephora website.

Application

Suprisingly this applied really well. The doe-foot applicator was suited for my lips which made application easier.

Feel and Scent

I can’t say that this is a light weight formula since when I wore it, (with the gloss on top) I felt that something is on my lips. It’s nothing that would bother me, but I just know that I applied something.

I didn’t notice any scent while applying it.

Color Pay-off

The color was great but I applied two coats on my bottom lip since I felt that there was still some pink peaking through the lipstick. When I applied only the liquid lipstick, I also felt “bitin” or that the color was still lacking something. The gloss helped a lot in making it more sparkly and more metallic looking.

Longevity

It works as would any liquid lipstick. It’s transfer proof and long lasting until you eat. The gloss doesn’t affect the product’s longevity. The sparkle/ metallic-ness of this product does not go away as well.

Overall thoughts

It’s a good starter with metallic lipsticks since it gives you a choice of a subtle metallic to a high shine- wow sparkles lip product when topped with the gloss. It doesn’t feel gritty or anything and despite not being too light weight, it’s nothing you can’t just let go 🙂

Thumbs up for this product.

15 days of lipstick: Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo

I knew this brand because of their triangular prism foundations and their marbled blushes and highlighter. Their sleek and elegant packaging also intrigues me. Today we’re reviewing hourglass’ girl lip stylo.

Product information

Precision color meets luxurious hydration. GIRL Lip Stylo features the color intensity of a lipstick fused with a luxurious blend of shea butter, jojoba, mimosa and sunflower seed for softer, fuller lips. The silky formula glides across lips for a second-skin feel with a lustrous finish.

Winner of “Best Sheer Lipstick” 2017 Redbook Beauty Awards

  • The silky, weightless formula blends modern color with luxurious hydration for a lustrous finish.

• Features a hydrating blend of shea butter, jojoba, mimosa and sunflower seed to provide moisture and nourish dry lips for a silky, soft finish.
• The precision tip allows for easy and precise application throughout the day without the need for sharpening.

Price

Full size costs $32.00

Packaging

It comes in a brownish black tube with the hourglass logo upfront. It’s a lip crayon.

Application

It applies smoothly and since it’s a lip crayon, the pointed tip helps in reaching the corners of the lips. However, when the product is used more and more, it might be hard to reach the edges.

Feel and scent

It feels very moisturizing. However, I can’t say it’s light weight. It doesn’t have any scent that’s bothering when I applied it but when smelled up close, the product smells subtly like wax.

Color payoff

I can say for a product that claims to be sheer and just a lip balm. This actually has medium coverage.

Longevity

It does come off pretty easily but I wasn’t expecting it to be long lasting. It also said that it’s just a lipbalm with tint so it doesn’t really promise good longevity.

Overall thoughts

I actually like this product very much. It feels moisturizing and it has good color payoff. However, re-application will be a little hassle. I would still recommend this product.

15 days of lipstick: Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color

I was excited for this one because of it’s shade. It looked promising and unique while still looking wearable.

Product details

Copied from www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com

What it is

Our boldest, most vibrant color ever. This sumptuous formula dramatically boosts moisture levels while intensely rejuvenating lips, keeping them comfortable and conditioned—even after it’s removed. Now in over 30 shades, with a sleek gold tube. It’s luxury, redefined.

Why it’s different

Intensely rejuvenates lips, helping to visibly reduce the appearance of lip lines and relieve lip flaking. Plus, just one swipe delivers maximum-coverage color.

As per their website, each tube costs $37.00

Packaging

The packaging looks luxe and classy. It comes in a heavy gold colored tube with black details and the brand name on one side.

Application

It’s easy to apply however, since I have small lips and the tip is not that pointed, reaching the corners of my mouth was a little difficult.

Feel and scent

It feels very moisturizing and I did not notice any scent.

Color payoff

I can say that this is one swipe goodness. It is a wearable purple with lots of shine. For some reason, I expected this to be matte but patting it with tissue helped in mattifying it.

It’s also good to note that it looks more pinky-purple than it is on the tube where it looked more purple.

Longevity

It worked as any other bullet lipstick would. I wasn’t expecting it to be long lasting but it surprisingly left a tinge of purple.

Sorry for the bad lighting but it feathered out on the sides so I had to wipe it but it left a pink stain on my lips.

Overall thoughts:

I can say that this is a good moisturizing lippie when you’re starting with bolder colors. I would recommend this for people with budget. Thumbs up for me.

15 days of lipstick: tarte rainforest of the sea quench lip rescue

I have been thinking about buying this and to be honest, that’s only because of the packaging and here are my thoughts.

Product description

tarte.jpg

Packaging

It comes in a pink tube with scale-like print on it. To be honest, I expected it to be a little heavy but it felt like paper to me and it was very light. I have a feeling that the design on the tube might fade (but I hope not).

Price

It costs $19 in sephora US. Roughly 1000 pesos.

Feel/scent

It smells minty and feels very hydrating. It feels like a lip balm.

Color payoff

I expected it to have a sheer color to it since it has a shade name but it’s clear. It looks and feels like a lip balm. No color at all.

Longevity
It stays as long as a lip balm would. It kept my lips hydrated and I felt the minty tingling feeling for quite a time.

Overall thoughts

It felt like buying a pricey lip balm. I will not repurchase but it’s a good product. Nothing fancy but it’s okay.
